Our Pet Gundog courses are the entry level into the world of Gundog training, after you've completed a Puppy Course.
They specialise in not only training dogs but also teaching and coaching the owners as well. They are for anyone completely new to Gundog training and wants to find out more, and for those just starting out and want to kick-start their gundog training journey.
Our fun Pet Gundog courses are not just for those wishing to take their dogs on a shoot or compete, but are primarily aimed at owners with family Gundogs who:
- want to learn about their dogs natural abilities,
- focus on you getting to know your dog better,
- looking at the skills needed to do the job they were bred to do and have fun along the way.
They aim to introduce owners to a variety of foundation exercises that come together over a number of weeks create a great foundation for those who want a well-behaved and trained pet gundog, and for those wishing to progress their skills for more obedience, competitions or for working out in the field.
Many new pet gundog owners can find it difficult to channel the high energy, strong hunting / scenting / prey drive instincts, the desire to get hold of something & keep it, and the ability to go into high arousal fast.
My training style aims to get the best out of you and out of your dog. The classes will help you to improve your dogs communication skills as well and your observation and timing skills that you have with your dog.
If there is no focus, no control or connection with your dog, then a lot of their natural instincts will be your downfall.

May Term Dates
Week 1 of your course is at Home Pre-course Material; Theory Information Guides, together with 5 practicals for you to complete at home prior to starting the in person sessions via pre-recorded videos.
You'll receive a welcome email with the access link to Week 1 content - 1 week prior to your in-person start date for you to work on before your first practical session. This will be via the Paws & Play Gundogs App.
Please Note:
- Please note that refunds will not be given if you are no longer able to attend your booking, your female dogs come into season or they are ill during the course and you're no longer able to continue.
- Places are not confirmed until payment has been received. If you reserve a place via choosing to book via BACs but someone pays before you - unfortunately they'll get the place.
- A session may be covered over a live Zoom session if the weather is too cold/severe or even too hot in the Summer months, for the welfare of your dogs. You will get more from your dog in your front room than them shutting down if they are too cold and wet.
